Our Family & Community
We live on a quiet cul-de-sac in the area we grew up in. We have a great community and our neighbors are a mix of retirees and young families. We have a four-bedroom home with a decent sized yard, a playground set, patio and lots of room to run around and play. We live in a very diverse and central area. We can easily get to Philadelphia, New York City, the Jersey beaches and the mountains.
Right now, as a family of three, we like to be outside as much as we can. We go hiking all throughout the year and when the weather is nicer, we like to go on our kayak and small boat. We love to listen to music together, especially while hanging outside in the yard with a fire going! We have great pizza in our area and we love to try different places out! The beach is one of our favorite places to hang out in the summer and taking trips to the boardwalk to win prizes and grab ice cream!
Our immediate family are all located in our same area. Ryan’s parents are in walking distance of our home and Kerry’s are a short driving distance. Kerry has one sister that she is very close with and she is married with 3 children, all who live close by. Ryan also has one sister; she is also who introduced Ryan and Kerry to each other nine years ago! She has one daughter and a son on the way, which we are all very excited about! All the kids are very close and we get them together often to play and hang out.
Ryan’s extended family is very large and live all throughout the US. We get together for a big reunion every couple of years. Most of Kerry’s extended family is in Ireland where her grandmother was born. We have a great relationship with those cousins and see them annually. We like to take vacations every year, even if they are just for a long weekend somewhere just to get away and be together. Every other year we take a big trip to the Outer Banks, NC and rent a huge house on the beach with family. It’s a nice way to get away and have all the kids together and relax.
We have a great support system of friends and family. A lot of our friends have children all in the same age range and we get together often for play dates. We also have a handful of friends who have adopted and/or are adoptees and they have been a great resource to us while pursuing our own adoption journey. Any child that joins are village will be greatly loved and supported by the people we surround ourselves with!
